What is a master gardener? A master gardener is someone who loves to garden and share their knowledge with others in the community. I am a member of Travis County Master Gardeners Association which is a non-profit service organization composed of volunteers that give their time to help people of the community garden successfully. If you are thinking about becoming a master gardener in your area, I highly recommend it for many different reasons. One is the amount of knowledge that I have learned to share with my community. It is a constant state of both learning and teaching. Second, it has been a pleasure to meet people in which we all have a common interest of gardening. In addition I love working in the greenhouse, demonstration garden, garden tours, help desk and the list goes on. There are many benefits of becoming a master gardener and I think it is well worth the time, energy and commitment to our community.
