This month is Support Your Local Independent Nursery. I am happy to say that in conjunction, a number of nurseries are having giveaways hosted by some of the Austin garden bloggers. I am delighted to be hosting a $100 gift certificate to Sunshine Landscape and Garden Center, which is located at 2002 Highway 620 South in Austin, Texas.
I know this nursery very well and I am pretty sure my car could operate on auto pilot to go right to this destination.
I visit Sunshine Landscape and Garden Center quite frequently because it is one of my favorite nurseries in the Austin area.
Now is a good time to think about adding color and also replacing those water thirsty plants with more drought tolerant ones that will survive. By shopping at Sunshine Nursery, I know that I am setting myself up for garden success when I buy plants that are proven successful. They have a wide selection of native and adapted plants that just belong here in Austin. Another bonus is that the nursery is well organized with friendly, knowledgeable staff that are readily available to answer questions.
Not to mention, I always like to visit Rico the parrot and say hello. He hangs out in the greenhouse to greet customers. Also, Sunshine Nursery offers deer resistant plants for gardeners facing this challenge.
I believe with our current drought situation it is even more important to support the local and independent nurseries that supply us with the plants that are going to make it through our hot and dry temperatures.
I know in the long run, I will save money by buying plants that are proven winners for our area.
So, garden hats off to Sunshine Landscape and Nursery Center for helping me to garden with success! I really wouldn't have a garden without you.

There's no place like Austin, Texas! In this gardening blog, I have tried to focus mainly on native and adapted plants for Central Texas! I think it is the true secret to a successful garden in this great state!

Looks like a wonderful garden center. I can relate with the car being on auto pilot when heading to the nursery. The giveaways are a great idea.
I'm glad you posted on this nursery. I don't know how many times I've driven past Sunshine and said 'next time' I'm stopping there. It looks so nice from the road.
Looking even nicer with your up close photos. I think it's time to make that stop.
Thanks for the tour.
I would love to win one of these great prizes! Thanks! Judy Lane
I would love the gift certificate to help my worse-for-wear garden!
I'm not putting my name in the contest as I wouldn't want to keep someone local to you from having it. But, I love that you're supporting a local nursery. I have a favorite here too.
LOVE Sunshine Nursery! The staff is so knowledgable, friendly, & helpful. It'd be easy to spend $100 and then some! Hope I win :)
Hi, Amy! Great pictures and what a great testimony to such a fabulous place. I can see why your car is on auto pilot!
This is a very cool idea. Of course, I'd love to win; bur either way, I plan to visit Sunshine Nursery this fall. I'll be back in Austin in early November.
This looks like my favorite kind of funky little place. I've never been there. Now that the weather's nice I just know I'm gonna succumb to the urge to replace all the stuff that died this last summer, so I will have to check them out.
And yet another place I've never been too - though you're right, I must have driven right by it...
Looks like a nice nursery to visit, but a 'little' out of the way for me. It is nice to highlight your local nursery and showcase it for those that may not be familiar with it.
This looks like a wonderful nursery. The next time we drive to Austin, we'll have to include this one on our plan as well.
Wow....looks marvelous! Road Trip!!! Thanks for the opportunity! Pamie G.

I've never been to this nursery, but I can't wait to check it out!
Yet another nursery I have not had a chance to visit. I'll add it to my list.
I hope I win. I love Sunshine Nursery!
Love to garden & would love to win a gift certificate to Sunshine Nursery! Thanks for introducing me to a new nursery! Can't wait to check it out.
I've never been to this one. Fingers crossed...
I've never been to Sunshine. I must check it out - even if I don't win!
I'll admit that I've never even heard of this nursery (not my part of town) but I would be happy to check it out.
Thanks for your blog and a chance to go shopping at this great nursery.
I'd love to win & check out a new(to me) nursery!
I love this nursery and am thrilled that you are doing this! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Please enter me in your drawing. I love all the nurseries in Austin!
I'd definitely take a road trip to Austin for this one. Looks like a great place and sooo generous.
I'm adding Sunshine to my MUST VISIT list! I'm way overdue for a trip to Austin anyway!
Thanks for the opportunity to win some cool and much-needed things for our garden!!
What an exciting giveway! Thanks for the opportunity!

I am not familiar with this nursery! Even if I don't win, I'm getting quite an education on the local nurseries, which I will visit throughout the fall. Thank you Austin garden bloggers!
New home owner with large back yard in need of TLC. Thanks for the giveaway.
We visit this nursery when in Austin. We drive to Austin from n.of Waco because the plants are gorgeous and drought tolerant which we need. We are in stage 2 drought and only allowed to water a few hours a week. Healthy plants are so important.
thanks for the chance to win
I've never been to sunshine nursery, thanks for highlighting it!
This is one nursery that I've yet to visit. The best thing about the Wednesday nursery blog posts is discovering something new! Thanks for telling us about Sunshine.
Great way to promote local nurseries
It's so nice to have Sunshine Nursery down the road! There are so many times when I'll just pop in and find something on my list that I've not been able to find. Love it! Go-go next week? Carpool?
Yes, can't wait!
Thanks for hosting this and supporting Austin nurseries. I would love an excuse to visit Sunshine Nursery Center.
I've never heard of this nursery, but if I win, I would love to take day trip up to Austin to check it out. Thanks for the opportunity.
I'm not local so don't enter me in the drawing. I don't know if it's still going on, but I wanted to say Austin gardeners and garden centers really got it goin' on. I was able to experience that when we visited Natural Gardener the year of the first Garden Blogger Fling.~~Dee
This looks like a great nursery! I always love businesses where I get to say hello to a parrot. :)
Gahh! Wish I would have seen this post this morning. Visited Barton Springs Nursery and the Natural Gardner today. Oh well, I can always use more plants! :-)
I've visited this fun garden center in years past; thanks for reminding me of it. I'd love to win! Robin at Getting Grounded
I'd love to win! Haven't been to this local nursery before.
I chuckle every time I see the name of your blog. Thanks for the terrific photos.
count me in! Looking forward to visiting your place - it looks great!
oh...I recognize that nursery now! I've been wanting to go there, but am usually on my way to Fredericksburg when I go by.
I really like this nursery! Visited there this spring when my grandmother was in town and we had a great time. Would love to enter the giveaway! Thanks Amy! - Kellyn Krueger
Would love to win. Thanks, wendy
Thanks! I seem to have bunnies - deer resistant plants are probably bunny resistant?
This looks like a great place to get ideas, then plants...and dirt.....and everything else
