Thirty Day Challenge: Thanksgiving ~ Day 22

I remember waiting and waiting with anticipation for this daylily to open up and reveal its color. I would check everyday with yearning. There is a lot to be said about the promise that anticipation can bring. It gives us joy and hope and an eagerness for what lies ahead.

The last few weeks, I have been with joyful anticipation. After about five months, we get to see our oldest son that joined the Marines. We all get so excited just thinking about seeing him. It has been a countdown in our house for some time now.

When I talked to our son on the phone, I asked him if there was anything special that he wanted me to make for him for Thanksgiving and his response was ... "How about fudge?" I think he takes after me. I love fudge and discovered the best recipe last year from Casa Mariposa. It is an easy recipe and yummy! So, while I am making the fudge today, I will be thinking of my son and waiting with anticipation to see him.

I am thankful for all the joy that anticipation brings to my life. When I see him, I will be overjoyed to say the least. Literally, I am just about to burst open with anticipation.

Oh Amy, it will be such a sweet, poignant Thanksgiving for your family. So glad your waiting is almost over.

Funny, my family goes for the carbs...when I asked my oldest what she wanted...scalloped potatoes, rice/broccoli casserole and green bean casserole. Son: scalloped potatoes...not a sweet in sight! Now, hubby is a different story!!

I know you'll enjoy having your family all together! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Amy: I am really touched by your last sentence: "Literally, I am just about to burst open with anticipation." How true it is to describe a mom's feeling waiting for her son's coming home!

Enjoy your time with your son and your family, and happy Thanksgiving!

I am so honored that your son wants fudge for Thanksgiving!! These are my son's last holidays before he leaves. His favorite is my homemade deep dish apple pie. But I love fudge so much that I could eat it for breakfast. Oops, wait, I think I have eaten it for breakfast before! I, too, love your last line!!
