Finding Blooms in January

I went outside today and pulled weeds and cleaned up the beds. It doesn't sound like much fun, but it was nice to just enjoy the great weather we are having. It was also a good chance to take notice of the blooms in my garden. Actually ... I found more than I thought I would.

Really it was no surprise that this annual dianthus was blooming. It blooms all year long in Austin. It is one of the toughest plants that I know.

I can always depend on these little flowers for color and interest.

Trailing Rosemary
Rosemary stands out in the winter months with its little, blue flowers. This little bee was happy to find a bloom.

Globe Mallow
Love it!
Gaura
Love it!
Purple Heart
Love it!

I even love this unexpected, tiny bloom I found on the side of our house.

Hope you have a wonderful week and find unexpected "blooms"!

Love the dianthus. Still loving your Globe Mallow. Where did you get it?

I'm impressed you have Gaura blooming in January! Here it's just the trailing rosemary, but I'm grateful for anything in bloom at the moment as it's been quite frosty here!

Love the guara and globe mallow! I've got lavender and a succulent or two (tucked in the greenhouse) blooming here. I am loving this warm weather we were surprised with too!

You have gaura! How lucky. I've tried desperately to grow it here in Canada, but it never made it through our winters. Now I'm living in a slightly warmer zone (5b) and am hoping to get one through the winter.

You have a lot blooming. The only thing blooming here, are a couple pansies...and, the weeds in the veggie garden. Really need to get those out.

I'm thinking I NEED a Globe Mallow.
The list grows longer.

Just pansies and Rosemary for me. your purple heart hasn't turned to mush yet?

There are little pockets of blooms among the mush. :)

You have a nice selection of "winter" blooms. Mine are just starting to bloom and couldn't be more welcomed! Getting out in the garden and weeding sounds like heaven right now!

Oh so lovely! We had breakfast of Duck Eggs this morning. In the middle of winter in Southern Oregon, our ducks have started laying eggs! Winter in the Garden. Wonderful!

I'm glad to see gaura in your garden. That reinforces how tough it is. I'm adding it to my garden this summer. Purple heart flowers look a lot like tradescantia. Very pretty!
