Spring makes its own statement, so loud and clear that the gardener seems to be only one of the instruments, not the composer. ~Geoffrey B. Charlesworth
Today, it was nice to finally get outside and take inventory of what is occurring in my garden. After three years my mountain laurel decided to bloom.
It is one of my favorite trees. It is a good size only reaching 10-20' with a 8-12' spread. The fragrant blooms are heavenly. It smells like grape bubble gum.
Also, I spotted a few of the four nerve daisies. They are such happy little flowers.
It is not spring yet...however it sure feels like it on certain days in Austin. I am only an instrument in my garden and spring like weather has brought forth a symphony of color and life.
I can't wait to get outside and start "playing" my part.
Also, a special note of thanks for the support, prayers and well wishes for my dad and his health.
I appreciate it so much!

There's no place like Austin, Texas! In this gardening blog, I have tried to focus mainly on native and adapted plants for Central Texas! I think it is the true secret to a successful garden in this great state!

Mountain laurel flowers mean spring is almost upon us. It won't be long now.
Texas Mountain Laurel is a really pretty plant. At first glance I thought it was a lilac.
Loving your laurel. We have one ...off hand not sure what kind, too soon to bloom here.
Yes, today is a great day to take inventory.
